Hello Raven73's, and welcome. I am so sorry it took so long to respond to your comment. My son just graduated Friday from Santa Barbara City College's, Comercial Diving, and Marine Technology. We are all so excited for him. He is 29 years old, and just hadn't found what he truly wanted to do. He has always loved the ocean. He started surfing at 8yrs. old. He also likes a bit of risk. He started rock climbing when he was 11.
Then last year his Grandfather (my Dad) sat him down, and asked him what did he want to do with the rest of his life. Knowing how much Travis loves the ocean, my Dad took him down to Santa Barbara, and to SBCC's Comercial Diving and Marine Technology Program to talk to the Director, and take a tour of the facility. Travis was hooked. First he had to get SCUBA Certified, take a special physical, then pass a rigorous swim test. Boom he was in the program. It started last August. SBCC has the best Comercial Diving Program in the state of California, and is know all over the country as one of the best in the nation. It is a very intensive program. SBCC teaches the program in 1 yr. where most programs teach it in 2.
As of Friday, he has graduated from the program with honors. Soon he will be off to Lousiana, and the home base of "Epic Diving & Contracting. He will working out of one of their satellite offices along the Gulf of Mexico, and will work on the oil rigs. He will be inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the uderwater portions of the rigs. He weld, cuts, and pipe fits, all under water. He has show us all what amazing things he can do; especically to himself. He made the decision to change his life, and did what was needed to succeed and reach his goal. He starts his new journey. I will miss not seeing him all the time, but that is what a mother does. Prepare, and give the tools to our children, so they can succeed in life.
So,
that's why I have responded to any of my messages or e-mails in the last couple of months; culminating in a lot of receptions, then graduation.
I look forward to getting to know you better. I'm glad you like my profile pic. We go to the Infineon race every year. They had these life size cut out of Jr., Tony, & Jeff Gordon. I couln't resist. I think it is pretty cool too. Too bad it wasn't really Jr. maybe someday.
