I’ve been really trying to figure out what I would do if I were nascar to the schedule. Something to balance things out, and keep us from going to the same type of track 2 or 3 weeks in a row. I may be back to edit this a bit later if I think of anything better. But here goes nothing.
Race 1: Daytona
2: Phoenix
3: Las Vegas
4: Homestead
5: Bristol
6: Atlanta
7: Talladega
8: Martinsville
9: Texas
10: Richmond
11: Darlington
12: Lowes
13: New Hampshire
14: Kentucky
15: Infineon
16: Michigan
17: Daytona
18: Chicago
19: Indianapolis
20: Pocono
21: Watkins Glen
22: Michigan
23: Dover
24: California
25: Martinsville
26: Kansas
27: Bristol
28: Atlanta
29: Richmond
30: Phoenix
31: Texas
32: New Hampshire
33: Lowes
34: Pocono
35: Indianapolis
36: Talladega
Reason to end at Talladega is the same as opening at Daytona I think we should begin and end with the biggest most exciting races of the year.
Other ideas: If there is any suitable short track to replace one of the Atlanta dates it would be good, and maybe another road course in there somewhere. Just not sure what tracks they would be or if they exist yet.

i agree
i think there should be a road course in the final 10, after all it is the best of the best. and with gordon, not a big fan but i agree that he has had the cup a couple of times and the chase has stripped him of it. just not sure what to do for 13th and so on. they could have a great last 10 but not get anything for it. and also, its off the subject, but with qualifying…. the fastest 43 and thats it!!

Their rationale...
Is probably that they upped the rewards for the 11th and 12th place teams. Its just crazy to me that Jeff Gordon has won two “regular season championships” and doesn’t get recognized for it.

There used to be an award
Before they went to 12 in The Chase, the 11th place driver got a check for $1 Mil. Why didn’t they continue that, but give it to the 13th place driver?

Not a bad start...
But to me…I think there should be two awards. The Regular season and Chase championship. That way a guy who stayed consistent and had success throughout is rewarded, instead of stripped of everything after faltering on the chase. They should run both standings at the same time.

i think
the chase should decide the champion then revert back to old points to decide 2nd on back because 13 in points could win 5 races and still end up 13 and he should have a chance to at the banquet at end of season

The breaks...
Should definately be more evenly spread. The biggest glares to me was moving homestead out of the last race in the chase (never made sense to me) making california one a year to get kentucky in. And giving Indy a second race cause I’ve always thought it should. There are other things I would think about too. Like, if we could get another short track I would take off an Atlanta race.

agree with both your points
but a road course messing things up enough to see which team is really great. i go to the Daytona race as well, but would really like to see it switched with Homestead. That is no place to end the season, believe me I have been there too. Plus look at all the exciting finishes the last couple of years at Daytona.

What about breaks?
What if we ran the first six races, then had a one week break? Then we’d run the next seven, and have another break. Run six races again, another one week break. Run the remaining seven “regular season” races. That way the season would be broken up into into quarters and give the drivers and teams evenly spaced down time. After the first 26 races we could have another one week break, maybe even two – to build up the suspense to the final 10 races to determine the championship in The Chase.

I picked Dega....
Because the July 4th race at Daytona is great. I’d think about having a road course in the chase, but I just can’t come up with a reason to other then variety. They just don’t attract the same crowds that I can tell.

AS I said many a time
The season should start in Daytona and end in Daytona. There should be a road course in the Chase as well. And all the cars should be eligible for the Chase. If you run off 5 victories in the chase and can go from 13th to 5th, you should since bonus money is based on your finishing position. But the 12th place car can have 10 DNF’s in a row and still finish 12th.
