Hey everybody i just got back home from the phoenix race today and let me tell you i’m beat but before i crash i need to address something first.I hope NASCAR really went through JOHNSON’S car with a fine tooth comb because he should not have been able to go that long without pitting on the same tank of gas.All the driver’s had pit together on the last caution of the night, which left 82 laps to go,we never had another caution unfortunatley but anyways when there was about 6 to 8 laps to go everybody started making green flag pitstops:CARL EDWARDS,DENNY HAMLIN,DALE JR,MARK MARTIN,JEFF GORDON,EVERYBODY.I was listening to Tony stewart’s radio with my scanner and his crew chief even told him that they were 5 laps shy on gas even KEVIN HARVICK’S CREW CHIEF TOLD HIM he was 3 laps short and then 2 minutes later Harvick ran out of gas.But JIMMIE MADE IT 82 LAPS ON THE SAME TANK OF GAS and the thing is,is that i watched JIMMIE Climb through the field and let me tell you he was comin’ literally haulin’ ass in those 82 laps he caught EDWARDS,HAMLIN,BUSCH LIKE IT WAS NOTHING AND PASSED THEM so he definatley wasn’t saving gas!So i ask the question how was he able to do that, his three HENDRICK TEAMMATES ALL HAD TO PIT THEIR ALL RUNNIN’ THE SAME STUFF in fact if i’m not mistaken every car in the field has the same fuel tank or at least their supposed to.Oh and by the way the only other car that stayed out was BOWYER but he was able to do it because he was one of those slow cars he was like 14th and 15th all day so he was able to just cruise.Jimmie also had more than enough gas to do a fat burnout so that’s got to make you wonder but whatever maybe i’m wrong, you tell me what you think but i’ll tell you what it dosen’t seem right!

Assumptions
Actually, JJ was pushed to victory lane… In listening to the live radio communication between Chad and Jimmie, Chad told him numerous times to get out of the gas and take it slower. They knew it was a huge gamble but what did they really have to lose at this point in the season. Gosh forbid a risky strategy pay off for a Hendrick driver because had it been another team, it would have been “a great call”!

Unfortunately, there's no Sunoco where I live
I’m also amused when the car that should be running on fumes manages to complete the cool down lap, do an extreme burnout, take a victory lap, and then cruise on in to victory lane.

You are correct
in your an…ala..sis
, however would you rather be on the side of the road in a 66’ super sport or at the gas station in a yugo? LOL!

Suppose you have two cars
in your driveway. They both have just enough gas to get to a gas station that is 3 miles away. You get in one car and slam it into gear and floor it at every chance. You burn the tires at every stop light and pass other cars in the road.
Now take the other (idnticle car) and you ease it into gear, take off nice and easy and drive 10 miles under the speed limit.Of course you make everybody behind you mad, but you get to the station.
Now which car wil make it to the gas station and which one will be on the side of the road out of gas?
If they both still have gas, which one will have more?
So, which one could actually go farther and maybe make it to a cheaper gas station?

Not to hard to understand really.
he even said he cut the car off on occasion. Now if you wre to measure the exact milage of two cars, you could see that a car that runs high on the track will have actually gone more miles than a car that runs the bottom the whole time. More miles equals more fuel.
Now figure things like : How soon do you let off the gas and get back on; How much lead do you maintain? ; Did you keep increasing your lead (and burning more fuel) or did you just hold your lead( not as much fuel)?

Fuel Mileage Cheatin'
I worked for a guy who bought an old cup car to turn it into a truck racer(early 80’s). I won’t mention the team but there was a 2×4 near the drivers seat that could be slid into the box that the bladder of the fuel cell was contained in. Pushed in the cell held the proper amount of fuel, pulled out it held just a “little” more. I don’t think something like that would slip past pre or post race inspections these days.
