OK, so I am going to vent some frustration here and hope that I don’t get too much negative feedback from everyone. Who in the hell does AJ Allmendinger think he is? I know that the All Star race isn’t for points and that the Showdown race doesn’t have all the TOP drivers in it but to wreck someone on lap 5 and take him out of the race when you haven’t even been in your racecar the whole season is pretty immature and childish. Then to not even apologize in your interview after winning the Showdown race that is even more of a slap in the face to the #19 team and Elliott as a driver. The only reason he won the Showdown race was because he took out the #19 who had the best car there. NASCAR officials need to take a look at the kind of punk kids they let into the sport these days especially when they are always wrecking people and destroying other teams racecars. Red Bull Racing pulled him out of the car because he can’t even qualify for a race and then he gets in the Showdown and wrecks one of the top cars in the race on the opening laps. And then they publish headlines like “Allmendinger’s Showdown win makes him an All-Star”. That is the biggest bunch of bull I have ever seen. NASCAR officials are just letting these young kids get away with things they would normally penalize for just because they are driving Toyotas and officials want to make Toyota happy so they can keep Toyota giving them all their money. NASCAR is starting to alienate a lot of their core fans with their changes and their $$$ in their eyes. Wake up and quit making everything about money or you will lose all the people that made NASCAR what it is and that is the fans!!

Not an apology
Allmendinger never apologized. I heard the transmission they played on TV after the incident and he said he slipped up into the #19 and it was an accident but he never came out and actually apologized to Elliott and his team from any interviews he did. Unlike Elliott at Darlington who in his public interview on TV apologized to Tony and his crew and took FULL responsibility for his mistake. These young guys want to be in Sprint Cup but when you make a mistake be a man about it and apologize. It makes both drivers and fans alike respect you more as a driver. Winning isn’t always everything.

Never heard it
I never heard an apology. Someone I know recorded the race, played AJ’s interview over and over and still didn’t hear an apology. I’m certain all the folks quoting him aren’t lying, but I just didn’t hear it. And he didn’t do “the same thing” to Tony. Tony stayed in the race, didn’t even pit after the contact. I listen to Elliott’s scanner, and he beat himself up for the rest of the race for making a stupid mistake.

Allmendinger did apologize to Sadler right after the incident. Hey, I voted for Sadler to get in the All Star race even after he did the same thing to my favorite, #20, so…
