Just my opinion
but I think it’s a combination of stuff. 18 has part of it… I think the setups for some cars are making it possible. I can remember some races this year where certain cars just couldn’t go with 2 tires cause the setup they had was wearing out the tires more than even their own team mates. I think the combination of the COT and the affects it has compared to the old car has Goodyear still searching for the right tire for each track… sometimes like Atlanta they miss it all together and other times like Darlington they are over agressive and it’s too strong. I’m thinking after this year and some testing by all it’ll get better and we’ll see more of what we’re used to.

plenty of times
this year Tony Jr has told Jr to stay out on old tires and it cost him them races. last night they put tires on and it probally cost him the race too. it’s like they are gambling and they are not being paid off w/ there tire taking chocies. just my thoughts…. right or wrong?

Yup
totally agree about it used to be 4 tires are better than 2. 20 laps to go and enough fuel to make it, I would stay out. But then I’m a girl and blond so what do I know, hehehe

Yeah Copper
If there is ever a race to try out new stuff or setups, this was definantly it! The worst thing to happen is come in dead last or DNF. Not gonna hurt ya points wise! so, wghere is the loss at?

Agree with pit times
I agree that the more time spent on pit road, the less the chance is of coming out well. With only 25 laps left the four tire change just seemed redundant.I could be wrong of course, as I said, maybe there were mechanical issues too ? I knew when Jr. came out 13th that the chances of making up time were slim. At least it wasn’t a points race

Several races this year
You’d see the top 4 or 5 guys stay out on older or just two tires.
And every time, the announcers would say that they probably should have gottem fresh tires.
BUT, every time, the guys with the newer tires just don’t even come close to catching up.
So, has Goodyear finally made tires too hard, od is it that the COT isn’t dependant on newer tires like the old car.
Seems that egtting newer tires only serves to make for a longer pitt than anything else!

I personally think
It is a setup thing. Some cars can go with two. THe grip and balance seem to have alot to do with it. Besides quick stops put you out in clean air. Which seems to help out almost every car.

4 tires not better last night,
When everyone else (with 25 to go)took two or none, it was odd that Jr. took four, which put him outta pit road at 13th ? Was that decision to blame for his 8th place finish, or where there additonal issues with car ?

Fish
I think it had something to do with the tire they had there for the race. I bet we will see the same thing weekend.
