I have foxes near my house. Mostly red foxes, but on ocassion, you will see some gray ones. Pretty much near dusk or a couple hours before dark.
So…what kind of noise do they make? I never heard them.
The reason I ask is because lately, just after dark, there is a small “fox sized” animal that runs around and near my house after dark. Makes this weird sound. The only way I know to describe it is as if a chijuajua on crack was running around and barking. It’s a short, but high pitched loud sound. Too loud for a Chijuajua, but similar in sound.
This close? Or do I have an actual Chijuajua on crack running around my house?

it's not a bear....
it’s not a chiuahua…it probably is….uh….waltrip after a race,whinin in that high pitched voice like he does when his “boy” gets wrecked.whoever his “boy” is that week….buggity,buggity,uh awe shucks…lol

Red fox make more of a barking sound or a small whimper..never heard a rat dog on crack, so might be a Chijuajua. Quite sure not a coyote..they are more like a “howl” which is VERY distinct! once u hear it will never forget the sound!!
