Okay, here’s my take on the whole Kyle/ Sr comparison:
It’s not just about a wreck just as Nascar isn’t about wrecking. It may be a small part of Nascar, but not the whole picture.
See..you have to ask yourself: What made Sr so great?
Now for many fans, that answer may be different. But There is no right answer. One fan may sat it was because he could see the wind. Another may say that it was his take no prisoners attitude. Maybe it was how he would intimidate you when he was behind you. I guess you could argue that he was unpredictable. Yeah, the only thing that was predictable was that you didn’t know what to expect!
The man drove hard and fast. he didn’t take crap from anybody, nor did he care what they thought. He didn’t go out half heartedly or with half an effort. When he ws in race mode, he was an all out racer. And being in the buisness of racing, when he was on the track, he meant buisness!
Wreckers or Checkers.
Now see, as far as Kyle being Sr, well….thats never going to happen. NOBODY will ever be the next Sr. Not even Jr.
Sorry, but thats the way it is.
BUT….Kyle is well on his way to becoming just like Sr.
Kyle Busch is another great driver that is just a year or two from his polished image. He too is a hard driving, win or die driver. He is there for the win. Give it 100% or give it nothing. The second place winner is just the first place loser! No half hearted effort on his part!
See, it’s his attutude that makes him a great driver just like Sr was.
See, You also have to look at some other important details too: Kyle is at least 10 to 15 years younger than when Sr was in the prime of his racing career. That many years tends to make any driver more mature and also lends more time for fans to accept that he may be better than what used to be your favorite driver.
Sr wasn’t exactly the most popular driver among his peers.
I tend to recall where I read that he was actually chased from a track by another driver with a gun! A FREAKING GUN! Hows that for being respected by all the other drivers?
So, it’s not about wether you like him or not. It’s not about if he has tangled with or surpassed your favorite driver.
Its about his attitude, his driving personality, his effort to win!
It’s not about being exactly like Sr! It’s not about replacing Sr.It never was!
It’s about being compared to him!
It’s a compliment to both Kyle and Sr.
To Kyle because it shows he is going places!
To Sr because it means that he is the standard by which all drivers will be compared to!
Well…I’m cool with that!

yeah I just do not see
Any intimidation from Kyle…..LOL I could @% at 30 yards and knock the boy of a fence Post!
I am not sure why Big J brought Jr into the mix….But okay.. Like I said there maybe a little more in his response than what was in the blog…..
And I do not see the fish worried about Rope or Fire…...lol…Even though I am a Jr fan I respect his view and thoughts as he has mine “a Few Times”!?

Get a rope
Hey Fish – When the lynch mob hunts ya down I would advise ya ta get out the hat, shirt and boxer shorts w/an 88 on it. Ya can also try sprinkle BUB on them in place of Holy Water.
New Fans and those w/ short memories, forget that SR wasn’t always a beloved hero. They respect Martin & Burton as Gentleman drivers. Forgettin @ the time SR came ta NASCAR he was a wolf among the sheep of Gentleman drivers.
SR was given the name INTIMIDATOR for a reason. Guess why? When comparin Kyle ta SR remember SR when he was younger and start there.
Oh yeah-”Rubbing is Racing”

Wasn't any Jr comparison!
Yeah, I get what your saying, I’m just saying that with the owners going corporate now days, they expect instant results! Lst year Kyle did better than Casey, so why did hendrick dump him instead of Casey? Because he didn’t match the pretty boy attitude? Now days, even winning doesn’t keep you in your car. I’d say the pressure is more, but for different reasons.
Actually, It’s gonna be like comparing apple to oranges. The past will never match the future or present day.
But as far as actuall results, I’d say that Kyle is well on his wat to being close to how Sr was. Not what drives himn to getbthere, but just that he does get there!

Absolutely
He did not own the team off the bat he had to pay a lot of dues fight his way to get a car find rides prove himself and “fight” his way to the top. Kyle has not done any of it yet and has been dumped into a corporate conglomerate of todays new racing world. I do not think Kyle would be where he is now if he did not have the Team, Car and support. I do not think he could find the track if he did have all that….. He has not had to go the hard path as Sr. did. Thats all my point is. I do not dis like him, I dis like his attitude and his inability to be honest. “SR” at least was honest about it afterward, didn’t care but said what he said and stood his line. All I have seen Kyle do is cry when he was down and out.

Wow
I did not see any comparison about Jr in this blog?! Funny
I guess there is a little more in that response than what was written in the blog?
Jr is not his Daddy! He is Jr..
Kyle is not like Tony either nor is tony like Sr. They are Kyle and Tony and JR.
If they are winning they are, if not they are not.
Every so often we get a bad boy of racing, Harvick, Tony and so on or back how ever you want to go in history or how far back.
But it is in spurts for some and others thats just how they are. Dale was that way no mater what. Harvick calmed down so has Tony, Kyle is just in the spot light for now. When he is a constant then we’ll see!

Yeah…determination doesn’t mean squat without talent! Your right about that! But…Kyle’s record does speak for itself. Sure he wrecks some here and there, but he has the most wins so far this year. Cup and Busch.
Now let him get some more years on him and I bet alot of people will be impressed with his record! Not about liking him. I don’t like Gordon..but that does not change his record or accomplishments either.

I get ya Bull
But it’s not about why he races the way he does. For that matter, no driver should be compared to any other driver …EVER! Every driver has different circumstances. But as for owning a team..Sr didn’t start out that way either.
But on another note, it’s alot easier for a team owner to dump a driver if he doesn’t become a success over night. Back then, owners and drivers knew it took time to develop. Now days, drivers are a dime a dozen to the owners. They will just pull another driver if they want to! But awesome points!

Nobody will ever be like Dale Sr.
You can have all the attitude you want.Ever driver out there wants to win, that’s why they are there. If it’s attitude you’re talking about how about Kenny Wallace. He’s about the most eager driver out there.I don’t think anybody can say they don’t like him.But it’s the talent that gets everybody around the track. There aren’t too many races that Kyle didn’t
tangle with someone and I suppose my bigest problem is that Kyle can’t own up to his mistakes.
