How many of you have “someone” that you can share your day with? Someone who will sit there and listen to every word you say? I do. I have 2 Labrador Retrievers, a black male named OJ and a blonde female named Nicole. They’re getting up in years, they were 10 yrs old in December, but they appear to understand anything I say.
When a race is on, its hysterical. They will sit there and seem to be listening to the commentary. When I get a little excited about a close call, a win, etc. my male will get up and watch the TV. He looks around to see what is causing the commotion. Sometimes he’ll run through the house just looking for “something”. It is so funny.
I just wondered if anyone else had a pet that does anything similar.

I have a weiner dog that is
psychotically obsessed with me. He’s a great friend and his loyalty has no boundries !
But , he will also watch me go to the bathroom too! I tried to tellhim I don’t need an audience when I’m going, but he just doesn’t get it. I guess there are sometimes when people friends are just better. At least they don’t sit there and stare at me when I’m going!

Why do I feel like crap now?
Dogs love can cat food more so then their own. I do know cat food is bad for dogs. I have been very careful with that but I guess Pete knows when I’m busy with the race and he can get some left over can cat food. Well, not anymore.

It is not a wives tale
that cat food is bad for dogs. Dogs cannot digest the cat food properly and it will destroy their kidneys if they eat too much.

PD. Poor little guy, he definitely has it made. My female was diagnosed with hip dysplasia when she was 6 wks old, but the doctor said with joint supplements she’d be fine, considering she was so young. Both my dogs take glucosamine and chondroitin every day. I’m glad yours are OK.

That’s priceless.
He’s probably been eating it for as long as you’ve watched racing. It doesn’t make him sick? I thought they got all kinds of problems if they eat cat food. Must be old wives tales. What a great group you have!!

My male dog, PD
had hip dysplasia when he was 1 yr old. We ended up getting surgery for both hips called a tri-pelvic ostomy. It cost $1,200 per hip. He is called PD for Plastic Dog because without our plastic, we could not have afforded it. Now, he has hips of steel and no hip dyspasia or arthritis. My female just keeps pluggin along with no major health problems.

Love my dogs and cats
a whole bunch. I have 3 Yellow Labs: Pete, Josie and Jack (Father, Mother and Son, respectively). Pete and Josie are 8 and 9 years old and Jack is 5. Also have a Great Dane named Buck who is 4 years old and then my cats: Pepe, Philip, Brandi, PeeWee and Patches.
lol
My dog Pete watches the races with me and he starts getting excited and barks when I lets out my customary big whistle after the National Anthem and Fly Over. He does not exactly know why he is excited but knows I am and that is good enough for him. Well, that was until recently when I noticed something. Pete always disappears for a minute or two after my whistle but I never paid any attention to it because the race is about to start. Well, a few races ago, I decided to follow him into the kitchen very quietly and there he was: eating the cat food which he knows he is not allowed to do. Pretty smart on his part thinking he can get away with it while I’m busy with the race. Just wonder how long Pete has been doing this and what does he do during the off season?

Thats the only
draw back to having dogs. They get old faster than we do. Its hard when they start having health issues. Good luck with your dogs health issues.

Too funny
Flying pillows, I haven’t tried that. Your female, Bear is doing well? Has she ever had any hip displaysia? My male has lymphoma and is going through cancer treatments. He had round 1, went into remission, then came out a couple months ago..The doctor started his treatments again and he’s doing well too.

I love dogs
but unfortunately can’t own one because I am not around enough to take care of them properly. I so agree with all of you and wish I could work it all out.
