An Everyday Hero peom for Memorial day

Saturday May 24, 2008 @ 03:24 PM EDT

To all of those who fought and are still fighting for this country.
This is a poem i wrote for the Veteran Day assembly at my school!

An Everyday Hero.
When I say the word “Superhero” what comes to mind?
Do you picture Superman the guy who flies in and saves you when you are in a bind?
I am talking about those who risk their lives everyday.
Sometimes death is the price they pay.
Ever since the 1770’s when for Independance Day, America was ready to fight,
They were on day day and night.
Although they could not forsee the end.
Still they were ready to take a stand.
Today nothing has changed
Take a look around you
You will see past, present, and future heros who are will ing to save the red, white, and blue.
When i picture a superhero i see someone in a uniform.
With a weapon in arm.
They lay it all on the line,
protecting you life and mine.
They have been there ever since this country has began
and if you would ask them they probably would do it all over again.
They do not cower in the eyes of fear,
and can stand before an enemy without a tear.
You do not need a neat slogan or some catchy name.
There are heros however not all of them live a life of fame.

This poem is written for all of those who have given their all!!! For their families as well.
