Alright, I posted a blog the other day about how Jr. is leading the way for HMS, so on and so on. I get a response (probably from a Jeff Gordon fan) that Jr needs to quit “big picture racing” and go for the win a little more. My question to you is this. Since the chase was implimented into the sport of Nascar (and it is a sport) isn’t the point to be there in the end so that you can actually race for a championship? Im not saying that’s what Jr is doing, but if it is, isn’t that the point of the race for the chase format? I like to see my guy mix it up with other drivers just as much as the next guy, but not to the extent that he’s 20th in points. Someone give me your opinion on this whole thing.

is getting it done. He is racing smart and he will get his wins. Got to be there in the hunt and if another car is a litle stronger got to catch him making the smallest mistake and take advantage of it and take that win away from him. take the points. get in position and go for the win when it counts.

sjh01, I like fans like you that can objectively look at a driver and his accomplishments even if it is not their #1 driver. Hats up to you!!

wants a WIN more than Jr, trust me! But if he can’t get up to the front and be there at the end, he is racing smart and getting those top ten finishes. Do Jeff or Jimmie or Casey have wins this year? Are they all making moves to the front of the leaderboard? They are all smart racing. Just glad Jr IS leading the way!

Finishin’ 10th in a 10th place car says more about the crew than the driver. Finishin’ 1st in a 10th place car, now that’s a DRIVER!

I am a Jeff Gordon fan,
but it is very apparent that Jr. is the one getting the job done consistently this year with HMS. I admit I have been a little glum about Gordon’s postings at the end of the races, but to see Jr. doing so well with his HMS equipment is so encouraging. Last year he was hitting so many brick walls..be it blown motors to performance issues. I think that it is a testament to the power of HMS to be able to help Jr. achieve the heights that he is reaching now…I think that if your a HMS fan then you gotta give it to Jr. for having the ability to do what he has done in so few races. I hope that Jeff Gordon does get his 5th championship, but I can’t say that it would be an actual upset if Jr. “points races” himself into his 1st!!!

I’d like to see Jr. win a race but not at the expense of a championship. So long as he continues to finish up front, I’ll be happy with his performance.
