FORD 1 2 3

Sunday October 07, 2007 @ 04:00 AM EDT

Well we have just had our biggest race in the calender year and that is on a track called BATHURST…. well its actually a town out in the bush. As usual there was the typical 4 seasons of weather in one day the only thing it didnt do was snow. Holden (GM) have basically dominated Mount Panorama since 1999, However it was great to see an ex Holden hero Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup go back to back and repeat what they did last year and give the Blue Oval (FORD) a well deserved victory. As a matter of interest FORD came in 1st 2nd and 3rd. Something that hasnt happened since 1988. James Courtney/Dave Besnard were a close 2nd and 3rd was Steven Johnson/Will Davison were another 1 second away. Stevens dad Dick Johnson went over to the USA in the early 80’s and had a crack against the Good ol boys of NASCAR some of you may remember. Bathurst has a population around 37.000 people and just under 180.000 turned up over the 4 days so the place becomes one huge colour of Blue and Red following the 2 car makers and the atmosphere is always electric. The last 12 laps of the race were run under wet conditions and the majority of cars elected to stay out on slicks… Hence it was a nail biting time for the fans and all drivers did a fantastic job and gave the fans what they wanted, Well FORD fans especially.. An exciting finish. Yeehaaa and GO FORD. In Australia anyway. By the way Mopar fans, There were 7 cautions so the CHRYSLER 300 pace car was out front for quite a few laps too. Id like to see Chrysler back at Mt Panorama giving the Fords and Holdens a run like they did with the Charger in the early 70’s Now they were the good old days…....!!
