All Star Weekend?

Thursday May 15, 2008 @ 11:04 AM EDT

Why is it Nascar has it’s All Star Weekend before a Third of the season is over? I know Nascar is not like any other sports league, but the other major sports do their All Star Events at around the half way point of their season.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to have it on a holiday weekend? Like the July 4th weekend followed by the Daytona race the following week, since that is the 18th race of the season.

The extra day will allow for fans to get a true Nascar experience. The teams and drivers can be available for the fans, and Nascar can make available time and info for the fans wanting to be a part of the sport. I see it as a way for all to give back to the fans.

Also it gives the media a chance to sum up the first half of the season. The drivers a chance to vacation in Florida with their families, and the teams time to decipher information, to position them for the chase and a championship run.

Don’t get me wrong I love having it here in the Carolinas, less than an hour from my house. I just think it could be improved for the sport and the fans.

Well good luck to your driver for the All Star race. Let’s hope there is some smash em up, bash em up, and crash em up action.
