Former NHRA champ died in a horific crash yesterday. Very sad day in racing. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. I’m am so baffeled as to why a track that has cars going over 300mph would not have some sort of run away protection in case of such a event as chutes burning up or not deploying.

Scotty was a friend. I will miss him. As to track safety, I can promise you that everything was there to prevent something like this from happening. But it does and thank GOD not too often. Scott’s chutes were out but burning. He was doing about 180 when he hit the barriers[at least].Funny Cars only have brakes on the rear so he couldn’t have slowed too much. I was in TOP FUEL for over 10yrs.

to the whole NHRA family. saw him race many time @ IRP nationals in INDY. Seemed like a very stand-up guy. He will be missed !

That was just something I never saw in my life and hope I don’t see it again my thought go out to his Family. So sad But he did what he love so much.My prayers are with his Family
