Homestead Finale?

Tuesday November 20, 2007 @ 10:19 AM EST

Why does NASCAR have the final race of the season at a track where they only hold one race? Except for the fact that Greg Biffle won the last three races in a row at Homestead, does anyone remember who won there? No, because the winner of the race is overshadowed by whoever wins the Championship.

If you watched the race, you should have noticed that while the commentators were talking about the flag man waving the white flag for the final lap, the camera was on seventh place – and Champion to be – Jimmie Johnson’s #48 car. It was noted in the various articles written about the race that people were already starting to head toward the Championship stage with ten laps to go!

Most people will be able to remember that Matt Kenseth won the California race back in Feruarly, but will anyone be able to remember his second win?

Maybe the closing race needs to be at a track where they hold two races. What does the NASCAR nation think?
