Lee Roy Mercer: A Fans Fan: NASCAR NUT
I have been a fan of racing for many years. I have seen many pictures of fans while they were with their specific favorites including teams and drivers and even an occasional pit crew member, all with one thing on common. Most if not all are of the fan smiling while getting their shot,,, there are others who take time to make the one who is the Star feel as if they could relax and just be themselves. I have had opportunities to meet and talk with drivers, and it has happened to me,, the excitement,, actually seeing a Living Legend or a Favorite Driver can easily overcome even the most experienced fan, so when I see pics of drivers with a fan and the Driver or person ‘Starring’ has a smile on their face, knowing they must feel at ease, well that to me is impressive for the simple reason that the fan thought to think of someone other than themselves, even in all the excitement, they thought of the driver first.
One such feller is well known and has a following all his own. He is a member of the community, often, letting us all know that there are New Pics we can see, that without his taking them, we would have never of had the chance to see our (your) favorites, in that light.

What a wonderful blog, Thundrstruck, and after reading about Sir M., well deserved.I also hail from Canada, so getting to my fav. driver, Dale Jr., little lone a race, well you understand.
It is so nice to hear about those that do get to be part of the action, and Sir M., lets us all in on the happenings.

I really enjoyed reading this, what a blog.
I’ve known Lee Roy through his producer Jon Holtz, who’s been my best friend for almost 15 years now. I have to say that I’ve never met two people with more giving spirits. Jon and Lee Roy have helped many times over the years to get my artwork out to some of the big guys in NASCAR, namely, Mr. Richard Childress, Mr. Jack Roush, Mark Martin and many others. Because of them taking the time to help, some of my artwork is now exhibited in the RCR Museum. Their friendship has truly been a blessing.

I was not aware of this individual until now,so again thank you.Living up here in Canada,and never having the pleasure of being to a Nascar race,I would love to here some of this man’s Nascar stories.I’m always so amazed when I see pictures of my Nascar friends with the drivers,heck I’d be thrilled to even get to see a car at this point!Nascar seems so far away from me,but I know one day I’ll get there!And when I do you all will be the first to know,cause I’ll be the one getting dragged off the hood of JR’s car!

Awesome blog, from one Fans Fan to another
Dear THUNDRSTRUCK,
I am at a loss for words. This is one of the, if not the most complementary things I’ve ever read written in my regard. Most people never notice the things you mentioned.
Some people think I’ve got the bighead and that’s the furthest thing from the truth. I feel truly blessed to be able to work with these drivers and I feel obligated to do my best to try and make them feel at ease. It’s the least I can do considering all of the support they’ve shown me.
I’ve been a die-hard NASCAR fan for over 40 years and all of the drivers, both past and present are Champions to me. I’m living a dream and when I can, I do my best to bring it forward to other fans.
I sincerely wish that everyone who’s a NASCAR fan will one day have the opportunity to enjoy the experience of meeting their favorite driver.
Again thank you for the kind words and I will make a great effort to live up to them.
