Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I’m gladly going to put my opinion here!
I can’t believe the penalty that Carl received! I thought that he would at least get the same penalty that the cars did in the Nationwide series. NASCAR is so uptight about what teams can or can’t do to these cars. With the lid being off the oil box, it gives a car a slight advantage over other cars with their lids on. A SLIGHT ADVANTAGE, not a huge advantage! For having such a slight advantage, why drop the hammer on Carl and give him & his team such a harsh penalty??? A point was brought up in an article that I read. Michael Waltrip was penalized pretty much the same last year at Daytona with the old car by having rocket fuel in his car! ROCKET FUEL! Tell me what the difference is between rocket fuel and a small lid and why they both land the same penalty.
In all honesty, I hope they appeal this penalty. It’s way too harsh! For all we know the bolt holding the lid in place broke off during the race! I want NASCAR to put out a statement proving that said bolt was tampered with to help give Carl’s car that slight advantage.
I’ve seen Carl race locally and I know that Carl wouldn’t do anything to cheat in a sport that he loves.
Like I said before, everyone is entitle to an opinion and that is my opinion right there. You can agree with me or disagree with me, that’s completely up to you!

Hehe.
2 wins.
2 failed post race inspections
1 tire dropped on pit road (good call on that one by Nascar IMO).
Carl should be glad he got a break on the first post race inspection. There is more than ample time after pre-race inspection for a driver or a member of the crew to get in there and remove it. If it just fell off it would have been in the car.
It wasn’t found in the car. That to me says “Cheating”. Like it or not. Cheating is cheating. Just because it’s your favorite driver that was caught, it’s still the same thing. Get over it.

WIN STICKS
That stupid cap had NOTHING to do with his win. His ABILITY to drive his car did..and will continue to get him wins. He had NO WAY of knowing that stupid cap wasn’t on..sheesh…

Failed Inspection, NO WIN!!!!
Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I think that if it is determined that a car is not legal then the title should not be awarded to the driver. That is not fair. Sorry Carl, you are a good driver but your car did not pass. You do not deserve the gold belt.

Well
I think the penalty is a little harsh. I could see if it was intentional and all, but I really don’t think it was. And to be dropped down to 7th in points, thats a huge drop. NASCAR needs to ease up a lil….

I hope they appeal
I also would like to know how a car passes pre-race inspection with the cover on, and then the cover is missing during post-race. Roush engineers claim parts failure. If that’s possible, then they should fight. If it’s not possible, then what opportunity did the team have to remove that cover? And how can this possibly be considered the same severity of an infraction as rocket fuel? Rules are necessary but how much longer will it be until the sport is completely suffocated?

Nice blog, but
I think it comes down to a team trying to get an extra advantage over another team. wheather its rocket fuel or a missing oil tank cap Nascar looked at it as a team trying to “get away with it”. The car was checked pre race, so what happened to the lid. The NAtionwide cars, if I am correct, had the lids loose, not missing. Lets face it you can’t touch anything on these cars. After this penalty all of the other teams better understand that.
