Despite a mending back injury, Elliot Sadler will start Sunday’s Cup race at the Martinsville Speedway Sunday.
Scott Sebastian, media relations for Dodge Motorsports, announced the driver will start the race however may exit early if his back injury prevents him from finishing.
The driver of our No. 19 sustained a low-back injury away from the racetrack Wednesday and the team tapped Dennis Setzer to fill in. Setzer practiced the Cup car on Saturday but Sadler felt well enough to qualify and will start in the 25th position.
“Nothing hurts a driver more than not being in his race car with his team,” Sadler said.
