Actually
Anything Nascar did didn’t change a thing. Your car has maximum hp by runnung at probably 90mph down the hiway.
Now figuring that you probably hardly ever drive that fast except the occasional interstate trip, would it affect your normal every day driving if somebody put a restrictor on your car that only allowed you to go up to 75 mph?
Nah, probably not.
See, the horsepower of an engine is higher at a higher rpm and speed. Most of the time, things like turns, corners, other cars and even the length of the straight away prevent the cars from reaching these speeds.
So in a practical every day racing situation, Toyota never used that hp anyway.
Now tthingsa could be different at say…Daytona wnd Talladega where the cars are basically running wide open, but thats more of an endurance race than speed!
