Earlier this morning a blog was posted about how Mars company should denounce Kyle Busch for his Bad Boy image. I started to comment on that blog but it became a blog all its own.
I have a few things to say about M&M’s and Mars company. 1) I agree that M&M’s (Snickers and Pedigree dog food) are very popular products made by Mars company. But most people that buy these products have no clue (or care) who Kyle Busch is or even NASCAR for that matter! 2) You may want to listen to Tony on Junior & Kyle Crash from the NASCAR Video Control Room on the home page. It will give you an insight on sponsors and how they deal with their drivers.
My grand kids love the M&M’s car (and any car that has a sponsor that are geared toward kids). They don’t care who is driving the car, they pick the car by the paint scheme. If we are watching the race together they know Nona’s favorite is the Home Depot car. No matter how I feel about a particular driver or if something happens to the HD #20 (like at Darlington), I don’t bad mouth or say nasty things when I watch with them. My grand kids are all under age 10 and I want them to love racing FIRST, not a driver. That can come later after they understand the nuances of racing. I tell them that sometimes wrecks happen and that is part of racing.
Like many other things in life, our children (or grand children) learn from the adults in their lives. They are like little sponges and absorb everything they see and hear. If you exhibit or teach intolerance or hate that is what the children will learn.

GR88 BLOG PUG!
How would the “fans” feel if the drivers threw things at them for booing the drivers?

We “fans” should give respect to ALL drivers for giving us the opportunity to call ourselves “Fans of NASCAR”.
& THE SAME GOES ON THE “COMMUNITY SITE” AS WELL.
This is a “sport” of talented drivers…ALL of them…whether a person dislikes them or not they do not deserve to be treated with “disrespect”!
Boos are expressive enough than causing “harm” by throwing stuff at them!

My daughter
is 6 and is learning the difference between right and wrong. After watching Darlington replays on Sunday, she turned to me and asked why people were throwing stuff at Kyles car. When I explained that they were sore losers, she says to me “Well, someone could get hurt. Thats not nice” Amazing that a 6 y.o. could figure that out but adults can’t. We are Dale and Kyle fans in my household, but I was sad to be called part of Jr Nation Saturday night. As far as M&M/Mars, they are dancing on a pile of money right now – sponsor ship can have little to do with driver attitude and everything to do with getting their brand in front of people. Kyle is doing a great job of that right now!

The Blog...
was great and I definitely agree with the point about what/how we teach our children/grandchildren through our actions. I hope that more people will take heed to this and be careful about what they do or so around our children.

I listened to....
the Tony radio experpt, and he’s right. If if Mars is to drop Kyle, then The Home Depot, would have dropped Tony long, long ago. It’s called marketing, and boost in sales. I read that Kyle’s gear is selling off the racks, the trailers can’t keep enough in stock. Good blog, Pug, you are right on the money. You Rock!
