It happened right before midnight on the East coast on ESPN Classic half way around the world, but it has happened.
Danica Patrick has won an IndyCar Series race.
Danica took the Indy Japan 300 on fuel strategy by topping up during the final caution, along with two other drivers. The rest of the field had to pit before the end, and soon it was between her and Helio Castroneves. Danica saved fuel better though, and blew by Helio with 2 laps to go. She only led 2 laps, but they were the most important two of all.
Obviously, the comparisons to Anna Kournikova are over. She’s no longer the most overhyped athlete in sports, and of course, how big is this for the IndyCar Series?

This
should be a good boost that maybe the Indy Series needed. I think it is awesome that she finally got her first victory.

No, not for winning
But for the reasons you just stated.
Jr has won some races, but his popularity way surpassed his ability.
I hope that Danica doesn’t get so over hyped (by the media) that her fame far outweighs her ability.

Over exposed? For winning a race?
I think not!Over exposed with no wins is more Jr. like than Anna Kournikova! Good for her! This is the shot in the arm the Indy Car series needed! She’ll be in NASCAR soon!

This is gonna be real big!
Not only is she good looking, but she can drive too!
the only down side is that she may get over exposed in the media.
