This is a comment I received in my user comment box on my profile page which I haven’t a clue who, when, where, or why I offended this person. Except the older you get the less you know about Nascar. I have never claimed to “KNOW” everything, just a little. I have learned to shoot the facts and this will usually take care of the problem or argument up front.
I really don’t like to argue with anyone about anything much anymore, especially Nascar. But I would like to state that I do think after years of being around and involved in Nascar that I have picked up a few pointers, but I guess your age must have something to do with this ever changing sport. But some things do and will always stay the same old or young….racing is racing.
Some of us take it a little more serious than others, just as drivers are a little more talented than others, But being my age and all at 52 I had better check my notes, just to be sure….
Here is what this gentleman left for us old timers….be careful because if your over 50 you might get offended..lol

Your comment about blog
Homework
I can tell that you really did your homework on this blog and it was very entertaining. There were things that I agreed with and others that I didn’t, that’s what made it entertaining. Keep up the good work and (perfect Schwarzenegger impression) I’ll be back to read your blog. As for Michael6018’s comment. Only racecar drives should look in their rearview mirrors. Don’t brag about how old you are Mike … “with all due respect” it’s like bragging about being tall, you had nothing to do with it. Any fan that takes the time to write a blog knows the history of NASCAR. It’s racing not rocket science. You don’t know any more about racing than Chavez1228 does, or can’t find out by doing his homework … which we know he can. Us “youngsters” (and I’m 34) understand the past and present. You _oldtimers _should catch up to todays racing and stop living in the past. You might just injoy the racing that us “kids” love so much. nasCARNEY

I wish...
I could remember where I left the comment, maybe then I could clear it up…oh well sometimes I know I open my mouth when I should keep it shut, but I never intend to offend anyone, heck I love all Nascar fans!

Question
taken in just this context, sounds a little rough (the comment that was left for you) but what was your comment on the Chavez1228’s blog that may have caused this person to react. I guess one thing we all need to remember is it is so easy to write something and when you do, you know what you – as the writer -is trying to convey. Then a reader reads it – they take it a completely different way then you meant. Why… because we are not having a face to face conversation – no tone; no expression. The written word can take so many different avenues. So to play the devil adovocate here, maybe your comment was taken wrong therefore this was written; or maybe this comment was taken wrong. Just a thought.
As for being an old timer – heck for some of the young people, anything after 30 is old. LOL
I don’t know about you Michael, but I still have a lot to learn and a lot of living to do and I certainly don’t feel like an oldtimer!

Those who forget the past are doomed
to repeat it’s mistakes. I’m 40 somethin now, can’t remember my B-Day as the OLD TIMERS is startin ta set in. But technology has moved forward and stayed the same. Better Aerodynamics and Chassis’ with Old School Engines w/ carburization and manual transmission.
Now go away it’s time for my nap.
Yep us Old Timers don’t know a thing. But I’ll end w/ a question. Who invented Aerodynamics, designed the better chassis and came up w/ the idea of improvin engine and transmissions designs.
Smokey and Jr (that’s Johnson, younghun) could still teach ya a thing or 2.

old timers
Old timer’s know more and are more interesting to listen to than us newbies. They were there when it was “real” racin’. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

The Good 'Ole Days
Spelling errors aside; here are my thoughts. As a whole, the NASCAR community, we must know where we have been to know where we are going. NASCAR is now steeped in rocket science and is based in the history of running moonshine and “whom had the better and fastest car.” I for one think that every “fan” should have to take a History of NASCAR class before attending a race so they can thoroughly enjoy where our sport has been and where it is headed…
“Old Timers” reflect and rejoice, I love to hear about the “Good ’Ole Days”…
