Into the fracas

Tuesday May 20, 2008 @ 10:03 PM EDT

Elliott Sadler made a rookie mistake at Darlington, taking only himself out of contention. When interviewed, he apologized to Tony Stewart and his fans, admitting he made a mistake and ran into Tony. After he got back out on the track, he beat himself up further because he felt he disappointed his team.

A J Allmendinger hit Elliott in the Sprint Showdown, taking Elliott completely out of the race. There was no damage to his car. Elliott, being angry, spouted off. A J wins the Showdown, and when interviewed afterward, may or may not have apologized for hitting Elliott, the jury is still out. An apology has been quoted, but no one I know heard it.

In both cases, Elliott was the one who suffered. I do not understand why there’s such an uproar about him being angry with A J. So what if he got into Tony the week before? Tony was probably angry with Elliott and said some angry things, but no one heard them. And no one can tell me Tony has never wrecked anyone. The incidents were totally different. Every single driver has messed up, and every single driver has gotten angry with someone who wrecked them. Elliott is no different. LEAVE HIM ALONE!!
