WHAT I THINK
First of all, Jr. would never have had a chance to win if Denny hadn’t lost a tire. The best experiment here is to imagine Jr. in the 18 and Kyle in the 88 and watch it over again. Almost certainly, Jr. fans would blame Kyle for driving the 88 down into the corner too hard and allowing the 07 to pass for the win. This is what happens when your a fan(antic) of a particular driver and not racing. If you watch the race between the 88 and the 18 from Bowyer’s car cam you have to agree that the 18 held his line. Jr. even said Kyle held his line in post race interviews. If you watch the 88, you’ll see him dive down into the corner to pinch the 18 off his line. You have to watch from Bowyer’s car cam because the Nascar side view cam doesn’t give an accurate representation. You can interpret Kyle’s turning the wheels in two ways. One is he got loose and corrected. The other is Jr. got into him and he corrected. Either way doesn’t imply any intentional contact by either driver. Just good hard racing.
