NHRA

Thursday April 03, 2008 @ 05:49 PM EDT

Okay, so it isn’t NASCAR, but it is racing! Just watched NHRA from Texas on TSN. It must be a repeat, and all of you in the States probably saw it live on ESPN, but at least I got to see NHRA for a change, usually have to catch up elsewhere.
Anyway, to the point of this blog. Seems like a very short time ago we heard the news that John Force had had a potentially life ending accident in the car where he broke both legs and an arm. Just before that, we heard that Eric Medlin had been killed im amother accident and it seemed there was noting to “celebrate” about in NHRA. It seemed they were going thru a similar run of terrible, awful luck and accidents, much as we did back im the ‘90’s and up to the death of Dale Sr.
Well, today I watched ol’ John Force get to the semi finals in Texas. LIkewise, Ashley Force also got to the Semi finals. As the tension built, wondering if dad and daughter were going to meet in a final, I found my heart racing, my hands sweating and my body rising to STAND!!! Wait! I only do that for NASCAR!
Alas, it wasn’t to be, John got beaten in the semi’s but Ashley did go on to the final against Del Worsham. Her reaction time was poor and Del led right off the line, right to the finish. That didn’t diminish the excitement of the race, and I know Ashley WILL win, it’s just a matter of time. I only hope she will get the opportunity to meet dad in the final.
