Humpy Wheeler, president and general manager of Lowe’s Motor Speedway, was at his best Tuesday while explaining what is in store for fans in the pre-race extravaganza for the upcoming Coca-Cola 600 at his track.
“This is going to be a real Jim Dandy,” Wheeler said.
He then went on to describe in generalities how airborne troops and members of the National Guard and helicopters and various other military assets would be coordinated to put on some sort of mock invasion in the infield prior to the running of the race on May 25.
“There will be plenty of explosions. We’ll blow a couple of enemy buildings up. I don’t know what battle we’re going to reenact, but it’s really going to be something where we can show everybody what kind of firepower our military has. The fans will love it,” Wheeler promised.

Sounds suspiciosly like last years Coca Cola 600. Let’s see they had artillery, helo’s, fast rope insertions, paratroopers, a mock invasion, and enemy buildings being blown up. Yeah, I’m pretty sure this is nearly a complete repeat of last year. Good thing I made the decision to attend the fall race this year.
