Forgive driver Jon Wood for not sticking around too long after Cup qualifying Saturday at Talladega.
After qualifying a very respectable 12th to get the No. 21 Ford of Wood Brothers Racing into Sunday’s Aaron’s 499, Wood rushed out of the track to get to Kansas City in time for the start of the Craftsman Truck Series race there, which he also was entered in.
“I’m going to stop by my motorhome and then go to the airport,” Wood said. “I’m taking my dad, my mom, my spotter—all the necessary people that you need, and then I’m going to Kansas.”
With that, the young man was gone.
