The Torch does not appear to have been passed...

Thursday June 26, 2008 @ 08:53 PM EDT

at least not yet anyway!

Average age of current chasers (top 12) = 32.33

One driver is 25 years of age or less.
Four drivers are ages 26-29 years.
SEVEN drivers are age 30 or over…SO….
The average age of the 30 and over gang in the top twelve is 36.14.

Now if you go down to the next 8 drivers who might easily take over one of the chase spots:

The average age of this group is 29 years of age.

Two drivers are 25 years of age or younger.
One driver is in the 26-29 age bracket.
Five drivers are age 30 or over..
The average age of the 30 and over gang in this group is: 31.6

Based on these numbers, my conclusion is that the youngins’ are not going to overtake the thirty and over guys any time soon. Also, the average ages and numbers will change a bit by the time the champion is awarded the trophy…because several of the drivers will have had birthdays by that time….

Old guys rule!!! Ha Ha….yea, right..I’m still old enough to be some of those guys’ mama! WOW…that’s just not right!
