I think its the COT
HMS got it’s engine package going full steam two season ago to be able to compete with DEI on restrictor-plate tracks. (Ironically, DEI’s motor program hit the skids the following season) and last season it was all about setup, setup, setup! HMS took those Monte Carlos and tweaked them better then any of the other Chevrolet teams could.
Now this year, they are back at square one with the COT, which doesn’t quite work well with their engines. They aren’t facing anything unique, all the teams are seeing the same thing. The benefit JGR has is that the engine program and the chassis department started brand new for this season, and the two departments were quicker to get the balance needed because of that then the other teams had a chance to do.

think it's the $$$
I’m a Jr fan first. But I can’t help but wonder if the toyota guys have something. They are pouring huge dollar amounts in research this year. mostly in the engine programs. Yes last year hendrick was the one to beat with the COT. this year I’m not sure what to think.
