Sonoma on the list of favorites

Sunday June 22, 2008 @ 04:23 PM EDT

Now matter what name they throw onto this track it will always be Sonoma to me.

This is one of all time favorites of NASCAR tracks. Have never been to it. And not likely to ever either.

But this track is so different than any of the other tracks that NASCAR goes to, that any true NASCAR fan will have this track on their lists of favorites.

These mile and half cookie cutter tracks are so common place now that, when it comes to making a true fans list, they just don’t. Unless it is a track that is maybe in their own backyard or the track holds some special meaning to them.

The list of favorites for this fan are: Bristol, Talladega, Daytona, Indy, Richmond, Martinsville, Watkins Glen and Sonoma. Not a single mile and half on the list.

The best mile and half of NASCAR is becoming Vegas. And unfortunately NASCAR only goes there once. But then again, maybe that is a good thing for this track.

Now don’t get me wrong. I enjoy watching Charlotte and Atlanta, because they are in my neck of the USA. But as far as the other mile and half tracks, they are nice. But they are like watching Charlotte and Atlanta.

I enjoy watching racing not just to see my favorite driver in VL. But to see how that driver does on different type tracks. And when they are all the same, well that gets boring.

So NASCAR want to make racing interesting again for the fans? Get a wider range of different tracks again, like you use to.
