Can't wait

Friday April 11, 2008 @ 04:14 AM EDT

Hi everybody!
I just want to remember that next week NASCAR Nationwide Series will go to Mexico City. “Then who cares? You are italian, why do you care about that mexican race?”
The answer is very easy: Max Papis (italian driver) will drive the #64 Dodge!!! I believe is amazing to have italian drivers in NASCAR. He did a very good job in the last Watkins Glen’s race, but he never qualified for Cup’s.
We have to go back to 1977 for an italian driver in Cup: a woman, called Lella Lombardi drove a Chevy in the Firecracker 400. She started 29th and did not finish (but classified 31th).
And now something that nobody knows: during free practice for American 500 1966, at North Carolina Motor Speedway, Ludovico Scarfiotti (former Ferrari F1 driver, and he lived for a long time in my town, Porto Recanati) drove Friedkin Enterprise’s #14 Playmouth!!! A year later Jim Clark and Jochen Rindt will try to win in the same race (but Jim’s engine will explode early in the race).
