Is it just me, or did our parents have a set of rules for us that do not apply to our children? Parents said, “No running in the house.” Grandparents say, “Kids will be kids.” Parents said, “No eating on the couch.” Grandparents say, “Kids will be kids.” Parents said, “It is late, time for bed, I/we have to get up early for work in the morning.” Grandparents say, “When you get ready, let us know and we can all go to sleep.” Our parents said they wanted to raise us in the way they felt was best, right? No arguement there. Did they also say that when we have kids that we will see why they did things the way they did? I am just wondering what happens when a parent becomes a grandparent? The rules seem to change. Don’t believe me? Next time you are with your kids and you go visit your parents/ their grandparents try breaking the rules you had as a kid. Run to the bathroom. Eat a sandwich on the couch, or anything. When did we go from being, as what they say now..”Kids will be kids” to the ones asking who are you people? I love my parents and my daughter more than anything on Earth. Our parents tried to teach us lessons. Our kids definitely teach us lessons. Now, who really does the teaching? Sorry Mom and Dad.

well.....
....I have to say that I am a little worried when I get my little Bigga Man back from his grandmas because I know he is going to be spoiled rotten. Granted he is only a year and I will be able to whip him back into shape but I am so waiting for him to say “Well Gamma said I tood”! When I left him with her in March I knew right away he was going to be a pain when he got hom when she said “Trenton no” and he laughed at her. That and hi aunties are spoiling the heck out of him. Oh goodness!! I honestly can not wait till I get to spoil my grand kids. I mean it is all apart of the circle of life!! I miss my little man so much!! 7months to go!!

I'm a Parent/Grandparent
When I raised my kids,I had a plan “keep them in line,in school, under my wings, now I have 4 beautiful Grandkids and I let them do anything thing they want within reason, but still very strict to what they eat, anything else ,”I’m just PaPa,and I don’t know better>>>

The big difference was
My grand Parents were old school strict on all the grand kids. when my Grandma would have to baby sit me, she’d get on me about laughing at cartoons! As soon as I laughed, she say:” All right now!” and have this Wicked witch of the west look on her face!
My other grandma sounded like “Mama” from “Throw mama from the train”!

Ok...check this out!
When I was younger, I would get spanked if I tossed, threw, bounced or even rolled a ball in the house. My mom would yell ( she a big time yeller) ( Not Ole Yeller
)for me to go outside or she would snatch a knot in my neck.
So when my nephew was throwing a golf ball at one of here ceramic wind chimes on the back screen in porch, she jumps up and say:” No, not that wind chime, throw the ball at the other wind chimes.”
WHAY?????
I would have gotten spanked and knot snatched in my neck!
She also feeds alot of birds on theback deck. If you stand in the dining room and look through the screened in porch toward the bird feeders, you see about 100 holes in the screen. There are also about 20 holes in the woodwork beside the screen openings. This is where she uses a BB gun to shoot at and scare away the pigeons!
I shot a tree in my yard and got in trouble- she’s blowing out the back porch and it’s ok?

well im not a parent...or a grandparent..
but i am an aunt..and well im not as bad as grandparents..but my niece and nephews get to bend most the rules when their around me! lol. you know why i do that? BC I know they have too many rules and responsibilites to follow at home—theyre growing up too fast, too mature already! so i let them run wild lol not really but they get to let loose a little when theyre with me! but i get what your saying. my grandparents werent like that though! same rules there as it was at home!

OMG that is so true...
My mom treats the “granny’s” like they are made out of platinum!!
I think its funny to see how she acts now compared to when me and siblings were raised.
She lets them get away with murder!
Great blog!
