SS I agree it's like watching a 200 MPH
parking lot. But let’s hope NASCAR in thier infinite wisdom will look at the COT’s performance at constrictor plate races and use some of the suggestions found in the comments of your blog. And Yes JPM will hit the tree (at least once!) And thanks for the shrimp recipe! I can see why people tried to get it from you! I did up the hot sauce a little (Crystal’s) and am going to add some Habenero peppers to the marinade next time. I’ll let you know! C-Ya!!

No, No, and No
If ya want to take the plates off, yet still keep the speeds down, then how ‘bout mandated rear gears?? As an example, if it were enforced that everybody run a 3.90 rear gear, then top speed would be determined on motor alone. And, that would give the engine department FITS!! What do you go for? Maximum HP, or Longevity? I would just get too scared with the skinny tire thing, and y’all are right – NO PLATES, the way it is now, we’d be seein’ 210+ mph…..and a few deaths, to boot. Sorry as Hell that I missed the action in this blog!

hahahahaha Harpo
now that makes sense
fish……i agree with ya and your right about the plates.no doubt,,,but Im talkin about throttle response and the ability to get your nose under the guy in front of ya and out drag race him down the straight away, less tire is the less expensive fix as they wouldnt be able to hold the car down in the corners and would have to let off. another fix I can see is knockin some of the banking down in the corners, giving the same result, but we know this is too expensive a solution and will never happen.

Ronny,
Juan hit the tree, causing it to fall. He’ll hit it again on the next lap!

Geat blog!
But the restrictor plate does act differently with the cot. They do get up and go alot faster (plate holes are bigger with the COT). Used to take a car almost two full laps to get up to speed. Now they do it in about 1/2 a lap!

I think paltes
Are there to stay at Dega and daytona……..i have no interest in havin drivers deaths because they removed em……not sayin anyone else does either…..i think theres better ways of keppin em slowed down and still allow em to accelerate out of the corners like other tracks and improve the quality of racin……for 1 skinnier tires
MT- glad ya enjoyed and yes thats a toned down recipe………..i just pour some hot sauce in a bowl and dip mine in it

Can you imagine
what this race would be like without restictor plates? Surely you do need them at this track. I love to see the competition crash out but I think it would bring about some serious injuries/deaths. I would think it would be an engine builders nightmare as well with the rev of these motors.
