Is Nascar full of dangerous thugs? What constitutes being a thug?
Is it duking it out in the infield after the first televised race? Is 2 drivers having a discussion after the race being a thug?
What about when Jeff Gordon shoved Kennseth was he acting the thug? I certainly don’t think Carl Edwards qaulified as a thug when he “flexed” at Matt.
Maybe purposely wrecking people time after time would be at least bullying,but I don’t think a little heated discussion makes a thug.
Is it just a dangerous sport? People say Kyle Busch needs to be parked before he kills someone. I don’t think he will,but plenty do.
I like Nascar racing and I like it heated up so I got to thinking. Maybe the people who think Kyle should be parked and think Kevin’s a thug for sticking his finger in Kyle’s face should try a more sophisticated sport. Something like figure skating. Where the girls hire “professionals” to break the competitions legs. Now that’s being a thug.

you have a great point….and that thing about figure skating…thats just funny. its as much part of the sport and the drivers themselves.

That’s the way it is. Far more dangerous way back when they didn’t have all these innovative safety walls and various types of safety equipment. Can’t say in all the years I’ve been a fan that I truly see a “thug” in the sport…

Dang Man! Usually I agree with your comments, but c’mon – Harvick showed Emotion and Passion, two adjectives that are sorely lacking in the sport these days. Did he handle the situations you mentioned in the correct manner? Hmmmm…....well, probably not (although you must admit that they were entertaining outbursts, and NO ONE got hurt in either incident….), but to call Kevin a “Thug” is a little extreme as well. And if you noticed, BOTH Biffle and the classy Ricky Rudd pulled some bone-head maneuvers on the track that took Kevin out of contention for the race win those days. You may not like Kevin, and that is fine – but if you put yourself in HIS shoes, then you might see that he doesn’t go around randomly attacking people…..When he does, they usually deserved it, and more.

Actions not Words
From Kevin’s antics during a NCTS race at Martinsville which caused him to be suspended from the following day’s Cup race in ‘02, to 2003 when Harvick and his crew criminally damaged the Wood Brothers Motorcraft Ford after another simple racing incident involving the classy Ricky Rudd at RIR, Harvick’s behavior has proven over and over and over again that his actions are detrimental to the sport of stock car auto racing. Nothing Harvick, his supporters or anyone else says has any bearing on anything because his actions betray him and his like for what they really are.

any such thing as a thug in NASCAR, Kyle Busch comes closest to fitting that description than any other driver I can think of.

The only thug I know of is that Wallace kid! he’ll put you in the wall. “Whatever!”
These guys are human too. So what if they get mad? We get mad because somebody cuts us off in traffic and it takes us a whole 30 seconds longer to get to the movie theatre. At least we don’t have millions of sponsor dollars or our career on the line!
