Tony
Tony did what Tony does…he voiced his opinion where it would be heard the most..national TV. GY even said that they had been testing these tires since August. Well, given 7 months of testing, you would think they would have come up with something the drivers would be happy with, but guess not. I’m not real sure it’s just the tires though. I think they’ve still got alot of tweaking to do to the cars. JMO

Tony as usual!!!
I think this is a classic case of Tony just being Tony…that is to say that if there is a tire issue I’m not sure that the media is the place to air his concerns. I think that he should approach NASCAR..or Joe Gibbs for that matter..and discuss the problems that they are seeing as a result of the new tire. I just think that sometimes Tony just doesn’t take the time to go in the right direction in order to take care of these types of situations. I think if you want to get things taken care of you need to find the proper people to handle the thing and let them know what is what and let them take care of it from there.

in tonys defense
he has always been pretty outspoken,so im not shocked that he said that, and maybe good year will think about what he said,im sure they did the best they could with the tires, but maybe nascar will start thinking differently, depending on who else complains, you dont want all your big names raggin on the tires.

Increasing competitivness
It helps teams that do not compete well on a regular basis. You will notice that some teams figure out the setup fairly easy and some seem to struggle. The teams that have it figured out the first time will be even better the second because all they have to do is tweak what they already know. Changing the tire erases that advantage if you believe there is one.

Goodyear
Tony also said that GY didn’t have to make these changes to the tires, because GY is the soul tire distributioner for NASCAR. There’s no competition for them. It’s not like NASCAR has any other tire makes to chose from, so why did GY make the changes to the tires that were already good enough? That’s his point.
