My thoughts...
In answer to your question Darlington9…based on Crazy’s comment I would say that NASCAR does not need to their substance abuse policies stricter.
Darlington9, generally when people ask a question the way you did they are looking for people to agree with them. I would then infer that you feel the testing policies should be strengthened. Is that correct? If so, why do you feel that way?

for BLDodgefan:
Drivers and team members must sign copies of NASCAR’s substance abuse policy. (I don’t know if this is before each race or at the start of the season). The four-page document gives the sanctioning body permission to randomly drug test anyone involved in the series.
NASCAR prohibits all illegal drugs at any time under the
policy; bans the use of alcohol on the day of an event; and warns of the effect of certain prescription and nonprescription medications.
Random tests are done when NASCAR has a “reasonable cause” to believe a participant might have violated its policy.
The strictest part of the policy is the rule on the consumption of alcohol, with a blood alcohol level set at 0.02 percent to be considered under the influence. (Note: even without consuming alcohol, normal metabolic functions will produce that number in an adult)

no need
Can anyone say that NASCAR’s drug testing policy isn’t the best in all of sports? Baseball can’t even tell if Barry Bonds was using the ‘roids (I think he should have his home run record taken away, frankly) but NASCAR suspends the drivers on the spot. It’s one thing that makes this sport what it is. Besides, would YOU want to go side by side into the corner at Talladega with someone who you thought was shooting up before the race?

current policy
The current drug policy in NASCAR is to test participants only when reasonable suspicion of illegal activity is suspected, although that can be done to anyone at any time.

yes
but the problem with drug testing is there are many drugs out there that can get through a test. I think they should do hair strands it takes awhile for the results to come back but those test tell all when the last time you used what you’ve used and how long you’ve been using for. Don’t get me wrong on the spot testing is a good thing but Nascar should also inforce random hair strands

Yes
This is probably the best policy in our sport and it is great now and should not be relaxed at all.

Hey Darlington...
I would love to comment on this, but have to admit that I’m totally clueless on what the current policy is. Can you share that if you know? THANKS!!
