Pocono: The Track That Was ALWAYS There, But Never SEEN:)

Loved your coverage of the first race, i’m a HUGE #9 Budwiser GEM fan (Ever since Elliot drove it. Thats Bill Elliot for all you that think I only like the guy because he seems to be on a hot streak. I was a little iffy on Kahne stepping into the grand shoes of “Awesome Bill from Dawsonville” but he had me convinced that he would bring Evernham Motorsports, now GEM a Championship.
Anyways, I didn’t come on here to rabble about the #9 and all. I came to boast on your coverage of the Pocono 500, My favorite track. Sure, it might be a little rusty (IMO gives it character), A new paving wouldn’t hurt, maybe even go from asphault to concretet, that would SURELY get some HEADS SPINN’IN and plenty attention.
Now, I Might be a little byas and all considering it’s only a stone’s throw away from where I live near Wilkes Barre PA, but I feel as though NASCAR, and some of the p. sponsers seem to over look the 2 races at Pocono and, at 1 time or another, wanted to hold just one race a year there?? I’m still outraged that everyone thinks Pocono’s another race that really doesn’t matter, nor cares who wins?? Mind you that BOTH race’s fall at a PIVITOL part in the season, where points matter almost as much as who wins. IMO, Pocono never got nor gets the recongnition it really DESERVES.
It’s a hard track, takes most drivers (Denny Hamilin is not encluded in this rap) to get down the 3 different banking degree’s; 14 on the first turn, 8 on the second (The infamous “Tunnel-Turn”), and 4 on the third, not to mention the 2 degree’s banking on the 2 long straight-aways. Whatever it is, it’s high time Pocono Raceway gets the Recongnition it’s deserved for the logest of times. There’s “The Track too Tough To Tame”, “The Monster Mile”, I think I heard Darrel (Waltrip) call Charolette “The Beast from the South-East”. I think Pocono should be called “The Track that was ALWAYS there, but NEVER seen”. I’m opened for suggestions (Is why i’m posting this here), Your last post of Pocono was awesome. Sounded like the opening to a book, about the trees rising in the back strech and how people were so hospitol, I really enjoyed it. Maybe with your help we can get Pocono it’s Show:) Mike, from PA
