Charlotte Camping

3 of us have been camping at LMS in Charlotte for both races for years now. In May we learned of a new rule (or maybe it’s an old rule just now being enforced) that said only 1 camping aparatus is allowed per site. Size is irrelevant. It could be 1 camper that takes up the full length and width + an oversized pick-up truck used to pull it or it could be 1 2-person tent.

This is, quite frankly, idiotic to me. You can easily fit 2 tents in less space than one camper. In fact, we can fit 3 2-3 person tents in a single space without infringing our our neighbors’ spaces.

So, why should we have to buy additional spaces when we have the same # of people – or less because we are only 3 women as opposed to 2 couples – and are taking up the same or less room?

With the hike in ticket prices for the October race (they are the same as for the May race now!), I can’t afford to go back to LMS this year. Things aren’t looking too good for May 09 either, especially if the racing doesn’t improve by then. I’m not paying that kind of money to see a boring race.
