It was an interesting weekend for sure at Loudon. Rowdy got back in the Nationwide 18 car and together with team mates Tony and Denny got Toyota’s first one, two, three finish. He may not have won, but he just added some more history to the books. On the Cup side of things, did anyone really think that the top 5 would turn out that way? The racing was good all day, but more toward the middle and back of the pack then in the front. That’s where Kyle stayed most the day as they just couldn’t get the car to agree enough for him to take it into the top ten and spent most of his day anywhere from 14th to 22nd. The day seemed lost, but Steve and Kyle set up a chance for a fuel win pitting just on the edge of the fuel window at lap 218. Everything seemed to be falling just right as the weather was holding off and the leaders were getting close to needing to pit for fuel when a caution came out. Instead of staying out and taking the lead that would have put both Busch brothers in front, Kyle pitted wanting tires as he didn’t think he’d be able to hold challengers off if he stayed out. In the end it ended up being costly as a little hard racing upset another driver and he turned the car around under the next caution. Before we could go back green, the rain came and the field was frozen. Rowdy never got a chance to do anything with what he had as the race was called shortly there after, but we did have a Busch in Victory Lane. Congrats to Kurt and maybe next time we can get a double Buschwack on the field. Kyle is still in the points lead despite the bad day, so onto Daytona. So far this year it’s been great for Rowdy on the Superspeedways as he has a 2nd and a win. I’m willing to say that the points lead is going to grow again after this weekend.
