Safer Walls

After Vegas, Jeff Gordon and Rick Hendrick have asked NASCAR to install the safer barrier at all the tracks on both the inside and outside wall. Rick Hendrick stated that NASCAR should not race at the track if they do not install the safer barriers. I am in full agreement with Rick Hendrick on this issue but I think it should go even further. I think NASCAR should issue a list of qualifications to each track. The track should pass inspection at the beginning of the season. If the track does not pass inspection the race should be moved to a different venue. Hendrick’s point is that the car owners are required to meet all the safety requirement on the car. There is a rigorous inspection process for each car before they are allowed to race. But there are tracks that do not have 43 pit stalls, a tunnel to the infield, safer barrier, etc….. If a car fails post race inspection they are docked points.
Last year two HMS cars were not allowed to practice for failure to pass inspection. The teams had to go to a back up car and use a provisional to get into the race. Now I do think the owners and teams should be responsible but I think it is horrific that the tracks do not have to meet regulations also.
