Nascar.com has just informed me that a photograph that I personally took of Bill Elliot working on his race car at Daytona in 1996 has been deleted from our site as inappropriate and a violation of Nascar Community Standards. I think their inspection process is as stringent as the one they do on real cars! I have asked them for an explanation for their action and I hope to hear from them soon. It was a perfectly benign photo of Bill leaning into his racecar shot thru the passenger side window and to my knowledge, it contained no nudity, profanity or Confederate flags.
Anyway, Nascar busted me for it.Being Old School, my first reaction was to go to the trailer and kick some Nascar butt, But that’s because I’m old school and this is a new school world, so I’ll keep my mouth pretty much shut. But I do expect to be fined 100 vitual owner points, and as virtual crew cheif, I probably won’t be allowed to watch the next 6 races on TV.
I’ll let you know the results of our appeal as soon as I hear from Nascar.
I also want to take the time to welcome all new crew members, especially the young Jeff Gordon fan who I hope will learn from us old timers and will contribute his unique perspectives on how the past influences the present in Nascar!
