I wrote first for a comment yet like so much that I made it a blog.

We did lose a little by the COT, the COT needs more time for the other teams to understand the car better. I’ll start first with the Hendrick Motorsports, we expected them to leave where they left off, 1st and 2nd, yeah, Dale Earnhardt Jr is in 3rd; and Jimmie Johnson is in 9th and Jeff Gordon in 10th. but they focused too hard on the Chase last year which put them behind this year.
‘
Now for the Roush Fenway team, Of course we have Carl Edwards who started so strongly, yet have had problems in the pits – not Edwards fault who is in 6th after Charlotte. And Greg Biffle has brought to the attention of all fans that Roush has mild issues with motor and tire wear, the Biff-ster is 11th. Matt Kenseth has had the most problems adapting to the COT which makes him a yo-yo. He sometimes is up and other weeks he is down, yet still in 16th place attempting to move up. David Ragan in my mind is a shocker, last year at this time he was a rookie in 28th place and finished the season in 23rd place. This year he is in 13th which tells me that he understands the COT.
‘
Richard Childress team and Joe Gibbs team seems to show that they have a handle on the COT and will be in battle for the rest of the season. The Dodge teams in general have not shown much of anything except during the super speedways. They have figured out the bump drafting down to a tee. DEI has only one superstar that is full time, and one part time superstar. DEI needs to have competition inside of DEI to make them better and challenge each other. They do have a fleet of younger drivers that will be a force later or next season when they gain more confidence. All other teams are mediocre, and they still have work to do. Theirs are climbers but I will leave that for another time.

What are your out looks at the COT?

well...
I think the points you make are valid in some aspects, however, just a few notes.
Carl edwards is most likely suffering more because of the 100 point penalty that he suffered after the las vegas race. Granted problems in the pits do not help, but he has bounced back from those situations with relative ease.
As far as hendrick motorsports is concerned, i beleive that the chase is not the issue holding them back. Instead, i beleive other teams have just caught up to them. Also, they have just had bad luck.
DEI Just has untalanted drivers, Paul Menard drives for them because his daddy writes the check. Regan Smith is just a bought asset from the ginn merger, and aric almirola is just a guy who got lucky at bristol. Truex may have a little talant, but he will only a success when he is back with JR.
