CONCORD, N.C., (June 13, 2007) – Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series for Hendrick Motorsports and four-time Nextel Cup race winner, will depart Hendrick Motorsports at the conclusion of the 2007 season.
The following is a statement from Busch regarding the decision to leave:
“We had been working on a contract extension for me to remain at Hendrick Motorsports, but after prolonged negotiations, we mutually agreed that a fresh start was in order. I have been granted a release after the 2007 season.
“I have tremendous respect for Mr. Hendrick and everyone at Hendrick Motorsports. It’s where I grew up, and I have a lot of great memories.
“I kind of feel like I’m graduating. I’m excited about my future, and I know a lot of opportunities await because of what everyone at Hendrick did for me – on the track and off.
“I still have a job to do this year, and will give it my all – just as I’ve always done – to make sure we put the No. 5 car in victory lane a few more times before the year is out.”

Kyle - my autistic son's hero
Hello I am so new to racing but have to tell you, Kyle…you are SUCH a hero to my 7 year old boy. He has trouble paying attention, staying in the “real world” but when he sees you race, he is THERE. Totally and completely. Since you dont race every day lol, we taped a race that you won and my son gets so very excited no matter how many times he watches the race – “KYLE Bush won AGAIN mama!!!”
I got him tickets and pit pass to the August 2nd/3rd races. Is it going to be possible to meet you? Somehow? See your REAL race car?
I want to thank you for what you do, for being a hero and for touching my son’s life and keeping him grounded. I may regret this one day when he gets old enough to get behind the wheel of a race car lol but heck, you bring him joy and excitement and you bring him back to earth so thank you, thank you.
very warmly,
Phyllis Raja, mom of Adam Raja (“oopie”)
ps he usually isnt that social but we recently went on a trip and out to a restaurant. Had a very friendly and attractive waitress who he liked alot. SOOOO…when she asked him his name, he grinned mischeviously and said “I’m KYLE BUSH!!” You have NO idea what a huge thing this is for an autistic boy to think up and do!

GO KYLE!!!
Kyle you are going to win win win in 2008 with JGR. I will follow you no matter what team you are on JGR now and if you should change in the future, I will always be a dedicated fan of yours. And for all the Kyle bashers… well, jealousy is an ugly thing.
I love you Kyle and go get ‘em in show them how to drive a Toyota in 2008. OH! and don’t count yourself short in this years chase, if you finish better then 10th (last year) then you are doing nothing less then getting better. GO KYLE!

The Best Young Talent Period
I have been watching Nascar for longer than Kyle has been alive. I have watched many champions come and go over the years. Kyle is a champion!! The route that his father took when Kyle was just beginning, making him build and work on his own cars, will make him a much stronger contender. He will be able to provide solid input to his crew chief, accurately analyze the car on track, and truly appreciate the work done by all on the team. Way to go Mr. Busch! All of my children are older than Kyle, so I can appreciate the learning curve that comes with a young age. But I am so very, very proud of Kyle over the last 2 years. Kyle if you read this, you have come a long way….keep up the good work. I cannot wait to see you hoist your first Cup. I am certain it will be the first of many! You have my sincere best wishes. I believe that you made the right choice with JGR. What a team you 3 are going to be next year. It will be a pleasure to watch.

I'm By Your Side
I believe you wanted to stay at HMS forever, like a child wants to live at home forever. But it is nice to see you moving out and going to a very respected place of JGR. I’ll be there for you when you get there! You’re growing into such a wonderful driver and competitor.

I LOVE YOU KYLE
Way to go tonight Kyle. 1st in the Busch race and 2nd in the Cup Race. I agree with everyone else, you leaving Hendricks is bettering you and your career. It is their lose and they will see that. Keep you head up high and nose off of everyone else’s bumper. Like they said tonight you are already talented, however there is more talent on the way.

Good Luck!
I hate to see you leave, but maybe this is the best move possible for you. Get out of the shadows and forge a new groove for yourself. It is obvious that you have the talent to do it. Best of luck wherever you go and I will still remain a fan.

GOOD LUCK TO KYLE!
You have to finish a race to win one, maybe Kyle might take it a little easier on his equipment in the future.

C'mon guys...
I thought we agreed to disagree on everything except that Tony whines too much.
Let’s move on to the boxing ring…
