There have been a few blogs out here in the last few days that have starting already to judge Joey on his successes, family life, etc. My thoughts – let’s let the boy race and save any calls until we see how he does. Why does everyone want to find fault with drivers (or fans, whatever) just because some one is successful, not your style of driving or personality, hair color – whatever? I hear some saying he does not deserve to drive in Cup because his parents have money so that is why he is so great because he had the means to drive good equipment – does that mean he is not dedicated to this sport and deserves it because he has taken the time to perfect his driving – instead of high school dances & movie dates, he is strapped in a car on the weekend racing because he loves it. Passion for what you do is a good portion of winner – wanting it – the drive to win – nothing wrong with that.
Good luck to Joey Logano & his family – you will need it because all eyes are on you just looking for something to pick apart. I see a successful career in front of you – enjoy it – you deserved it!

I love Smoke and will miss him being @ JGR and yes, what a spot to fill. I just hope fans look at Joey as a rookie driver and give him a chance – like you said. I think he has what it takes to be successful but that can take time to get your groove.

Last yr in the busch east series
he went side by side with Harvick at Iowa speedway for 14 laps and won. Also a heavy car. My point is, he knows how to RACE heavy cars

soes have talent! Wonder if he was racing when he was 4 like Gordon. lol In my opinion, for what it’s worth, I think people are looking at the contrast between a veteran like Tony and a “rookie” in the Cup series “filling his shoes”. It will be a tough job, but let’s give the kid a chance.

I have heard to watch him drive that you see more maturity then some who are older – I have only seen him drive for Nationwide (and what I have read) and I am impressed so far in how he seems to be handling all the hype.

I think Coach Gibbs will watch the “overbearing” father thing too – I’m not saying he is one but sometimes, as parents, we are so use to being an advocate for our child that we forget that we sometimes don’t have a say in “everything” even if we want to – I have learned a long time ago that I have to teach my kid to stick up for themselves when they start to get older so I stay out of the coach/player relationships as much as I can – or at least, I try to

I have watched him since he was 14 driving and winning in a Hooters Pro-Cup car. It is a heavy car also.
