Hello everyone and welcome to the first blog for Jeff’s Jaganaught’s…...I’ve never been a crew chief before so I hope you will all bear with me and give me feedback; it’s OK, I can take constructive criticism!
First, I think we should set down some ground rules. Driver bashing will NOT be tolerated. If you feel the need to bash drivers and/or members of this crew please leave or you will be banned and reported. While I respect the fact that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that is not what this crew is about. Thanks for your understanding. Now, on with the show!
Well, the All-Star race has come and gone – I enjoy it because the format is so different, but I’m glad we only do it once a year… Jeff didn’t have the best finish but let’s hope that they learned some good stuff for the 600! Let’s be happy this wasn’t a points race…..we finally got back into the top 10 and I’m looking forward to moving further up and taking over the #1 spot!
I was very happy to see that NASCAR was also able to raise a lot of money during NASCAR day; hope everybody had their pins and wore their driver colors with pride – I know I did.
The Coca-Cola 600 will hopefully be a very exciting race. Last year Jeff finished 41st due to an accident. The average speed for that race was 130.222mp and Ryan Newman was on the pole. Casey Mears not only won that race but was awarded the “Strategic Call of the Race” award as well as the “Move of the Race” award. He won by a margin of 9.561 seconds. Casey claimed not only his first victory, but $371,425.00…not bad for 4 hours, 36 minutes and 27 seconds, don’t you think?
Question: How do you feel about the current car vs. the COY (car of yesterday)? I think the new safety measures it offers is fantastic, but I can’t help but feel that it has changed the racing somewhat. We’ve all heard what several drivers think of it, but I’d like to know your opinion!
As we all prepare to enjoy the long Holiday weekend, I ask that you take a moment to thank those who gave their lives for our freedom and thank each and every soldier you know and/or see as well. I will be writing a personal blog about this with a personal message from a dear friend of mine who serves in the National Guard. I hope you’ll read it.
Thanks for taking the time and I hope to hear from my crew! I’ll try to keep us all up to date on a weekly basis offering various stats. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. Thanks and have a great week!
Josie

Yay Josie!
Great ummm, charter u set!
IMO, I liek the new car, I just wish they were allowed more room to “tune” these cars, like gear ratios, the slant degree on the wings, things like that. It seems thats were time on the track can be found! Other than that, the Nationwide series still runs the old model…. watching them run is always fun! Looking forward to more of ur Crew Chief postings.

Josie
You did a great job on your first. You will get the hang of it. And you will make a great Crew Chief.Like the new COT car beacause we do have a little more side by side racing. Plus this car can take a beating and keep on ticking. Were the coy car would be dead and be load on the hualer for the trip home.

Thank you! I’d be open to a vote for the policy established, but I want to make sure our crew is respectful to everyone in it!
Funny you mentioned JJ – when I had the privelige to meet him in CA he said he hated that car; no bones about it. In fact, he said it was a “a piece of crap and I’m being nice since there are so many youngsters here”! Jeff said he liked the safety aspect of it. I can’t help but feel there has to be some kind of inbetween; hope NASCAR takes a second look…I prefer the COY myself!

You'll do just FINE
Josie – it’s been great to get to chat with you from the get-go !! And it’s good to set your foot down as far as NO TOLERANCE for bashers – maybe one strike – we’ll assume you’re having a bad day – but two strikes – you’re OUTTA HERE ? what do the rest of you think about that ? As far as the COT – it has been a struggle to say the least, at most of the tracks with our HMS boys – and WHY ? JJ has alluded at the aerodynamics, weight, change from the Monte Carlo to Impala as culprits to name a few
