So I was pleasantly surprised with the finishes of Jr, Mears and Gordon. While i would have loved to have seen Gordon contending for the win. It was nice to see him run well enough and be able to work on his car to at least a solid finish. I think thsi off week will allow him to do some testing and find what seems to be missing from this car. I read a few articles that gordon was compeltely off all night when in fact that wasn’t the case he was loose to start and gradually got the car better. had they had better fuel milage he might have finished in the top 5. But it was nice to see him battling. I truly think Gordon will make the chase and be a contender while he hasn’t won it is still early in the season and I don’t doubt that he won’t collect some wins in the coming weeks. Another thing even though Edwards has trhee wins, only two of thsoe wins count as of right now so most teams are seperated by 10 points. And we all know that Hendrick will not only win one race so some these teams that seemd to get off to a fast start have started to fade back which is exactly what I expected. Gordon needs to capitlize on that. Talledega is a good track for him. Defending winner and all.But like i said a week might help them get some testing in, and figure out whats missing and by how much. I have to say this in the pre race interviews on sat. they were interviewing JJ and they talked about JR and Gordon and there struggles, but seemed to knowingly leave out Mears. I think he deserves a good pat on the back for his hard work and turning what could have been a disasterous year into improving in the standings and just overall running better. Looking forward to Dega!!
