We’re getting ready for the All-Star Race – I still want to call it the Winston – and I’m thinking of something DW said the past weekend about Jr possible retaliating on KB when it doesn’t count for points. You know how it is when one little comment gets into your brain and just wriggles around in there like a worm? So that got me thinking about some of the good ol’ days discussions we used to have in the 24/7 chat room of the 90’s. We’ve been hearing a lot lately about Sr taking out Texas Terry, Ricky Rudd and Rusty Wallace. Now we have Kyle Busch taking out Jr in a similar way. People have offered the comparison that Kyle is much the way Sr used to be. Well, I don’t buy it. Not for a second. Sr was a driver unto himself, sure, but he was always the first one to admit he got into another driver, he didn’t try to say “he came down the track into me” – at least not from my memory.
In any case, my feeling is that Kyle is nothing like Sr. Dale Earnhardt Sr was a gentleman, he had tons of friends on and off the track. He knew how to contact the other driver on Monday to talk it over. He knew how to take care of his racecar. He knew how to drive. He knew how to be humble, he WAS humble. I will forever remember exactly where I was the day he won the Daytona 500, the way his fans cheered for him, the crews lining up and down pit road out of respect for the master of the track and his celebration in Victory Lane. I watch over again every year and every year I shed a little tear.
Okay, so now I rambled off topic, seems the way I am lately. My question to the crew was going to be, tell my YOUR memory in the chat room of the 90’s of the driver everyone loved to hate! I remember it being Jimmy Spencer! He got called some awfully nasty names back then. Who else? Enquiring minds want to know…..

Thanks
Karin! I don’t write often any more, but Sr stories just get me going!
Sis, we were always friends, needed to be sisters, and above all, knew we didn’t need to always agree to remain that way. Love ya!

Hey Girl
Don’t have any chat room stories but I did enjoy your blog, only wished it had been longer. Reading blogs like yours that remember Dale Earnhardt the way I do is like comfort food to me. Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. Thank you.

Good blog Canuckster!!
what i remember of Sr. from his beginnins in this sport was he got the same crap kyle is gettin now, too aggressive, not respectful of the other drivers, checkers or wreckers ect. the only difference was Dale had a little more age on him than Kyle does, and a family to feed. There is no real comparison between the two other than, right now Kyle’s drivin is as close to Dales than anyone else.
We were hard on the Bodines in the forums in the early 2000’s no matter who spun ya out or put ya in the wall we called it bein “bodined” hahahahaha
