This Budweiser Shootout was pert’ near perfect
“I want a billion dollars and a monkey.” I got what we all hope is just a bite-sized sample of the kind of race the 50th Daytona 500 will be a week from now.
That was one hell of a race, that there Bud Shootout. And it was won by one hell of a driver too - the best restrictor plate racer there ever was, according to second place Tony Stewart.
Smoke said that Dale Jr is probably better at...

NASCAR is already full of surprises
We are barely started in the 2008 season and who can believe what has happened?
One year after “fuelgate” Michael Waltrip has put his NAPA Camry on the front row for next week’s Daytona 500. Oh yeah and the not so surprising part; joining him on the front row–Jimmy Johnson. Johnson hasn’t missed a beat from 2007, by putting his Lowes Chevrolet on the pole.
Here are this week’s Fast lap...

NASCAR's Preseason Thunder on the horizon
Winter officially ends for me when the pitchers and catchers of Major League Baseball report to spring training in Florida and Arizona, sometime in late February. My wife thinks I'm crazy - no surprise there. After all, we live in Northwest Ohio and it does stay chilly for awhile after February 20th - sometimes for a long while. No matter, spring is here when spring training begins.
While...

Jailhouse marketing 101 NASCAR style
By now I'm sure you've seen it. Kasey and a Homestead-Miami security guard had a "coming together" after Cup practice on Saturday. The details are under investigation by Homestead detectives. The meat of the story follows:
"Police were called and Kahne spent several minutes in handcuffs before being released. The security guard was checked and released at the infield medical center......

Goodbye Snickers
Ricky Rudd finished 18th today, in the Pep Boys 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. I confess that I saw none of the race. But I know that Rudd drove the #88 Snickers Ford Fusion to a lead lap finish. I had to look it up. The stats showed that he didn't lead any laps or even run any in the top ten. The #88 started 38th and finished 20 spots better. I don't know any details beyond that.

Mowing down the competition one Fast Lap at a time
If you are any kind of NASCAR stat junky at all you certainly were not surprised by Jimmy Johnson’s victory at Martinsville Speedway this past weekend. Johnson and teammate Jeff Gordon owned all the possitive statistics going into the race and have an even firmer grip upon them now that the actual race is over.
Love ‘em or hate ‘em, you better respect what they are doing to the competition...

On Pit Row Tonight
Nice guest line up tonight. We finally connected with Nascar legend Lloyd Moore. It is one of my favorite interviews in the 7 plus years that we have done the show. Joe Nemechek was great. That team has a tough way to go to make races, but they have one of the best qualifiers in history in Joe. David Poole is always good. It was a very good show, if I do say so my-own-self.

When it comes to NASCAR fantasy games.....
*I'm not bragging, but there aren't too many things in this life that I would admit to doing really poorly.* Except for NASCAR fantasy games. I just plain suck.
It's becoming embarrassing, too.
We have this very simple - but kind of elegantly simple - game that we run thorough _*OnPitRow.com*_, called the Chain Game. All you have to do is pick one driver, each week, and you get their...

Lloyd Moore ON PIT ROW
Steve and I are honored that for our Tuesday, October 9th show we will be joined by Lloyd Moore, NASCAR's and ARCA's oldest living driver. Thanks to a heads up from Oldschool59 at NASCAR.com we have an interview set with Lloyd and I can't wait.
You can read all about Lloyd Moore and the early days of NASCAR and ARCA at the Legends of Nascar site. It's fascinating stuff. If no stations...
