I was raised on NASCAR in the 1950s & 1960s. My uncle raced Late Models in the Washington, DC metro area, my dad was a NASCAR safety inspector and my mom was timing and scoring. (My claim to fame is, our family were friends with Elmo Langley.) In my late teens, friends of mine introduced me to road racing via SCCA at Summit Point, WV and F1. I went to Watkins Glen to see F1 in the fall (always cold and rainy) and the 6 hours in July when the weather was great and we camped along the back stretch. I never turned my back on my NASCAR roots (not with cousins and brother racing local tracks) but started paying more attention when Joe Gibbs started up a team. The coach of my favorite pro football team (Washington Redskins) now was part of my other favorite sport and they were racing on road courses. As you can see I like a variety of different drivers. Rather than who I like but which drivers I don't like. I do not care much for Jimmie Johnson. Enjoy watching NASCAR Raceday on SPEED channel before the race.
